The Back Yard

My garden (duh!). I'm growing basil, oregano, and 8 kinds of peppers (Hot Jamaican, Scotch Bonnet, Turkish Cayenne, Alma Paprika, Long Red Slim Cayenne, Poblano, Banana, Pepperoncini).

That's what you get for playing with Super Glue on my basil plant.

One of my many new backyard friends. This is one of the smaller ones. I actually chased him to this position with a rake in hopes of encouraging him and his family to relocate to a safer neighborhood.

An early Alma Paprika pepper. These will ripen to a bright red, at which point I'll harvest them, string them up into a ristra, and dry them out. Then I put 'em in a coffee grinder and make paprika. They also taste great right off the plant. Very sweet!

Pepperoncini, also in its early stages. I haven't tasted these fresh before so I'm not sure what I'll do with them to preserve them. I'll be curious to see how they differ from the ones Papa John's gives you.

Hike to Murray Lake - July 1, 2010

Just north of the summit of Guanella Pass. Heading to Murray Lake. Or is it Lake Murray?
Looking west. Summit County is just over that ridge.
How'd all those rocks get there? Oh...
"What are you waiting for?"

Waterfall at 12,000'.

Back at the summit of Guanella Pass. Mt. Bierstadt is on the right. The Sawtooth (with Mt. Evans behind it) is in the center.
